Stockingford Community Cafe

Arbury Community Centre (Formally Stockingford Cafe Project)

The project has taken time to get moving.  There were lengthy discussions about how the building mightg best be used as a cafe and community centre.  Designs were drawn up, costed and discussed.  There were legal mattersabout the ownershio and use of the building to be sorted out - and being Methodists the process is inevitably very long and thorough.  A constitution has been approved, trustees appointed and proper management organised.  Charitable status has been secured with the name of  "Arbury Community Centre"

It has been a long journey so far, but the support of our partners, St Paul's Church and The Community of Christ, has been patient and commited.  We can now begin to develop the building, , starting with the establishment of the Community Cafe during the next few months.

Once the cafe is in place, we can support the local community by setting up a range of projects.  These could include:  Debt Counselling, IT learning and internet access, benefits advice, support for families and the unemployed, work with learning disabled groups and many others, as well as spoace for local charities to work and for organisations to rent.
